Tahiti
The life of the land is the life of the people…Old Tahitian Proverb
Tahiti is a special place where I can rest and relax. Tuning into the rhythm of nature and the sea is spiritual and cathartic. Living in and around water is natural and refreshing. It is a very special place.
For many years we would visit often to a lagoon near Teahupo'o. A a small boat and jet skis allowed full access to Teahupo'o and other lagoon passes to the sea.
In the early mornings I would paddle around the lagoon for several miles on a stand up paqddle board . The visibility through the water from above was clear and I could see more than 60 ft below as I glided above the rocks and sandy bottom.
In the mornings around 7am a local french baker would slowly drive down the road in front of our house ringing his bell and selling fresh french baguettes that were delicious and warm.
Down the road in the afternoons fisherman would have the days catch hanging for sale. Friends next door taught me to marinate the raw fish and make Poisson Cru a Tahitian favorite with raw tuna, lime juice, coconut milk, tomatoes, green peppers or cucumbers. It was delicious.
